About the Author
Stephanie Marcil Meeker is a faith-driven writer, teacher, and ministry leader whose life took an extraordinary turn when she took in four children of her best friend after her friend was tragically murdered. In her deeply personal memoir, When the Unthinkable Happens, Stephanie opens her heart to share a story of unimaginable loss, unshakable hope, and the healing hand of God. Her writing is a tender yet courageous testament to the power of surrender, community, and God’s unwavering presence in the darkest of valleys.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Stephanie now lives in northern Virginia, where she has spent decades nurturing the hearts of children as a teacher, piano instructor, and children’s ministry leader. Her calling has always centered around investing in the next generation, and she brings the same intentionality and compassion to her writing. Through her story, she seeks to honor the life of her beloved friend while offering comfort and courage to others walking through their own valleys of grief and redemption.
At the heart of Stephanie’s work is a steadfast belief in the faithfulness of God. Her words speak to those who are grieving, questioning, or simply holding on by a thread—reminding them that even when life shatters, God is still sovereign. Her story is not only one of tragedy, but of transformation—an invitation to trust that beauty can rise from brokenness.
